Who We Are
Acton Academy East Valley is an innovative k-12 school in Queen Creek, Arizona. We don’t have grades, grade-levels or tests. We do real-world, entrepreneurial, 21st Century work in mixed-age, learner-driven communities we call studios. We’ve reinvented education, and made it affordable for all. We’re located at 22019 E. Cloud Rd. in Queen Creek, Arizona.

We believe each person is a genius and has a gift that can change the world in a profound way. We believe that learning to be, learning to do, and learning to learn are more important than learning to know. We believe clear thinking leads to good decisions, good decisions lead to the right habits, the right habits forge character, and character determines our destiny.

Our Mission
We invite all young people to live a heroic life in pursuit of their Next Great Adventure. Our mission is to build a community of young people who dream big, work and play hard, and take full responsibility for their own personal hero’s journey while serving others on theirs.

What makes Acton Academy East Valley different?

1. Freedom Through Responsibility
Freedom, true personal sovereignty, comes through becoming responsible and accountable for one's own choices and personal journey. Everything in our studios is earned, from pencils to privileges.
2. Tribal Contracts
Learners create studio contracts with each other, and agree to contracts with their parents and guides. These firm promises, coupled with clear accountability form the foundation of our tightly bound community.
3. Socratic Discussions
Launches focused on inspiring, equipping and connecting learners by inviting them to stand in the shoes of a historical, mythical or contemporary figure facing a challenging decision on their hero's journey.
4. Meaningful Work
Challenging work at your own pace focused on growing a love of learning, diving deeply into passions and preparing for your Next Great Adventure. Mornings for personal work, afternoons for shared quest experiences.
5. Badges To Prove Mastery
Each studio has its own set of badges which learners complete to prove mastery. Badges, similar to those in scouting, include Deep Books, Civilization, Math, Servant Leadership, Genre (writing), Apprenticeships and more.
6. World-Class Tools
Learners use the best technologies, systems and tools to advance on their journeys and strengthen their tribes. From the Tribal Development Framework, to 7 Habits, to 360 Feedback and from Code Combat and Lexia to CNC machines.
7. The Hero's Journey
Each learner is a genius and each is on their own Hero’s Journey, with challenges, adventures, fellow travelers and guides. The Hero's Journey is woven into everything we do - focusing on and culminating in personal transformation.
